Michael Rees

Painting of the moment.

This piece to me, represents the heavy handed nature of the response of the ruling classes to the overwhelmingly peaceful rallies and demonstrations of people of many backgrounds, who are sympathetic to, or directly affected by built in injustice in a broken system. The Orange or orange ball signals a minor event, but with a brutal uneven reaction, events can become enflamed and lead to deadly violence.

Born in England and emigrated to Canada in 1980. Attended Emily Carr college of art and deign from 1983-87 and studied printmaking. Leaving ECCAD, I then worked in the printmaking industry for seven years and did very little art work of my own. Starting painting and printmaking again in 1993, I have sold in The UK, Canada and The USA. I operate a modest studio in the central interior of British Columbia.
